Beaner's Coffee

Ummm coffee. I love everything about coffee —the smell, the anticipation and finally that first delicious sip. At Beaner’s Coffee House in Hamilton Mill my senses were wonderfully enticed by rich aromas, the sounds of coffee brewing and milk steaming, the plethora of delicious sounding choices and finally by the scrumptious taste of a smooth, rich, steaming hot cup of coffee.

Owner Amy Thompson and Manager Heather Keith offered me cup after cup of delectable flavors including the Beaner’s signature flavored Caramel Marvel, which I found to be very creamy and not too sweet. Other favorites I sampled were Mocha Mocha, Teddy Bear, Cocoa Carmella (a real favorite with the kids), and my favorite White Lightning.

For these milk-based drinks a wet foam process is used whereby the milk is steamed, stretched and rolled, giving it a velvety texture and just the right amount of foam.

The coffee itself is unique in the way it is roasted. Amy and Heather explained that Beaner’s founder Bob Fish takes coffee seriously. So much so he personally trained Paramount Coffee in his special roasting technique. The secret is a slow roast process called “plateau roasting”, a process Heather compares to roasting a marshmallow. “Roast the bean slow so it’s cooked all the way through and not burnt on the outside,” she says. “This allows the true taste of the coffee to come through, strong and smooth but never bitter.”

Beaner’s offers a complete line of beans from signature beans, decaf, organic and fair trade. If your appetite needs a jolt try a fresh baked cinnamon roll or scone, your pick of breakfast and lunch panini’s, bagel sandwiches, wraps, salads and fantastic soups.

If you’re in a hurry for a simple cup of joe, zoom through the drive-thru window, or come inside and zip through the highly popular express line that is self serve and exact change only.

Amy and Heather work very hard to greet every single customer and make them feel important. So not only will you receive a friendly hello when you drop by Beaner’s, you may just make some new friends as well.
