Passion. The dictionary defines passion as “a strong liking or desire for or devotion to some activity, object or concept.” I have been described as a very passionate person with strong desires and much devotion in my life. I am devoted to my very supportive husband, who believes in me and puts up with my never-ending energy and hectic life to pursue my dreams. My boys, well, that’s where my heart truly lies at every minute of every day. Then, there’s a passion for friendship. What would we do without those very special friends that are so much fun to be around and allow you to just be yourself! A passion for family and dear friends.

Having lost my own mother (my best friend) unexpectedly, I do think, quite often, how fragile life is and how important it is to live a life full of passion. My mother gave me the inspiration to believe in myself and to strive to reach my life’s dreams. She also gave me the confidence that I can do what I set my mind to if I believe—or at least—be resourceful enough to figure it out! I know that I have her with me watching over me, guiding me, and encouraging me to live the life she dreamed for me. A passion to live a full life. So many of us, live such a busy, hectic life that we really don’t know what is happening around us in our own community. Many choose to complain and jump to judgment without knowing all the facts. Now, more than ever, I understand the importance of volunteering of my time to keep Gwinnett a wonderful community in which to live and raise my sons. The opportunities to become involved are plentiful and by doing so you can make a difference in our community. I recently heard that people who volunteer live a healthier and longer life! A passion for my community.

I love the thrill of creating a business, of helping others to grow in their careers and in providing a valuable service. Along the way, I’ve experienced and been associated with all types of other people who were in the same boat – starting their business, learning how to make it work, and riding the waves, up and down, hoping to make it to shore and discover a new world. Throughout this journey, I’ve noticed that a common thread among the truly successful entrepreneurs has always been “passion, with integrity”. Being driven to succeed merely for status and monetary rewards is not enough for a long term, sustainable venture—it must be coupled with integrity. This is the principle that guides me in my own business. As I am often approached to do “paid editorials.” However, we recognized early on that short-term monetary gain does not lead to long-term success, and that in order to grow, we must stay true to our readers. Passion to succeed, with integrity.

It is exciting to get feedback from our readers. We listen to your suggestions and comments. A recent suggestion was to create a new column focusing on launching and sustaining a new business. This year, I will share with you some of the things I have learned along the way and you will also read interviews with other new and established entrepreneurs about their business adventures. Send me an email if you’d like to be included! A passion and dedication to our readers.

As we deliver our 16th issue, please know that all of us at Accent Gwinnett are passionately committed to delivering a quality magazine that is diverse, interesting and always with integrity. We truly appreciate your support, feedback and interest. Have a Happy New Year, filled with passion!!
